According to OSHA, a confined space is a space that:
- Is large enough and configured in a way that an employee can enter into it to perform work.
- Has limited or restricted means for entry or exit.
- Is not designed for continuous employee occupation.
Confined space locations may include – Sewers – Tanks – Boilers – Crawl
Spaces – Pull Pits – Acid Pits – Vaults – Storm Drains – Pipelines – Bins –
Tubs – Ducts – and Vessels.
Entering into any of these areas may be necessary for getting the job done, but it could be made safer through proper identification!
